Top 5 Running backs

1. Clinton Portis -- just watch, he's playing for his next contract in D.C or elsewhere

2. Lendale White -- He's lost weight, is the short yardage option in a run heavy offense

3. Frank Gore -- Singletary will ride him until he breaks

4. Maurice Jones-Drew -- ready to be the man in Jacksonville

5. Fred Taylor -- the Patriot magic works again

Top five quarterbacks

As of March 24:

1. Tom Brady -- will be back with a vengeance

2. Tony Romo -- motivated to prove he can succeed without T.O.

3. Drew Brees -- might be playing for Sean Payton's job this year

4. Ben Roethlisberger -- forget what you hear about the Steelers being a run first team. The offense runs through 7.

5. Trent Edwards -- Ralph Wilson isn't paying T.O. to be a decoy

Quaterback strategies

As promised here is how Quarterbacks should be judged:

First and foremost take the following factors from your leagues scoring system into account:

Are passing touchdowns worth 4 or 6 points. If they are worth 6 points having a top five quarterback is of the utmost importance.
If they are worth 4 points then running quarterbacks take precedence in your rankings

If the qb is hit with negative points for interceptions you have to downgrade the so called gunslingers.

If the qb plays behind a weak O-line he may not succeed no matter what his track record has been

Is the head coach stable and established? If so you can generally count on the qb to be secure as well

Is the team run or pass first? Does the HC like to score or is he content to grind the clock once he gets a lead. The qb on a grinding team does no favors to his fantasy owner.

Quarterback strategies

There is much debate within fantasy football channels on the value of a qb. Some so called guru's will tell you to be that last member of your league to draft a quaterback. Other's advocate taking a signal caller in the first three rounds. It really depends on the most important factor in your draft preparation. That is, your league's scoring system. Take into account the following when evaluating quaterbacks

1 Touchdowns Passing (are they worth 4 points or 6 points)
2. Rushing touchdowns ( how much is each qb expected to run)
3. Interceptions ( does your league give negative points for interceptions?)
4. Sacks/O-Line (how often does each qb get hit/ hurried)
5. Coaching situation
6. Offensive philosophy.

In my next post I will explain why all of these are important

It's never too early

March madness has just begun, but it is time to start planning for fantasy football. The focus of this blog is as the title states: Rankings.

I will provide my visitors with regularly updated rankings of each position heading into the season to help you prepare for your draft. When the season starts weekly ratings will be provided to help you make your lineup decisions.

Why would you be interested in my perspective? I have been playing this game for the past 21 years, I have grown up with it. i remember having to explain to people what fantasy football was if you can believe that. Why have I been playing for so long? because it's fun. Wanna hear a secret? It's fun because I win.  Pay attention to this blog, and you can win along with me.

Why am I planning to provide my startegies and rankings to the world for free? I wanted to try blogging, and thought I would start with something I know. Your comments are welcomed and i hope the information i provide in the coming days is useful to all.
